Celebrating 26 remarkable women who have been recognised as the State Women Icons 2026/2027. From achievements to impact, their journeys reflect the strength, leadership and contributions of Malaysian women.
Kelab Wanita Ikon Malaysia (KWIM), with the continued support of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), today announced the 26 winners of the State Women Icon Awards 2026/2027 at a Media Conference officiated by Yang Berhormat Puan Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development.
First introduced in 2007, the awards continue to serve as a prestigious platform recognising Malaysian women who have demonstrated excellence in their respective fields and made a significant impact on society and the nation. For the 2026/2027 edition, nominations were open nationwide from February to April 2026, with 301 nominations received.
Of these, 179 candidates passed the first screening, while 93 proceeded to the final evaluation stage. All finalists underwent interviews with a professional panel of judges, comprehensive assessments and field assignments through the Icon Tour Programme, evaluating their career achievements, leadership, integrity, social responsibility and impact on the community.
Following the competitive evaluation process, 26 recipients were selected across four main categories:
- 9 State Women Icon Award Recipients
- 11 State Young Women Icon Award Recipients
- 4 State Waja Women Icon Award Recipients
- 2 State Inspirational Women Icon Award Recipients
According to the President of Kelab Wanita Ikon Malaysia, YBhg. Dato’ Normaziah Sheikh Mohamed, this year’s selection was not merely about career success, but about identifying individuals capable of creating change and benefiting society.
“Malaysia has so many extraordinary women who work quietly without seeking publicity. The Malaysia Women Icon Awards were established to highlight their stories of perseverance so that they may inspire future generations. An icon is not only known for her success, but remembered for her contributions and impact on society.”
She added that the Icon Tour Programme has strengthened the credibility of the selection process, with each finalist required to carry out a social responsibility project in their respective state before being evaluated by the professional panel.
Meanwhile, Yang Berhormat Puan Lim Hui Ying said the Malaysia Women Icon Awards are aligned with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI in empowering women as leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, educators and agents of change.
She also commended KWIM for its continued commitment to elevating Malaysian women through a platform focused on impact, integrity and leadership, while congratulating all winners who will represent their respective states at the national level.
Beginning 17 August 2026, recipients will embark on Road to AWIM 2026/2027, a series of programmes leading towards the Gala Ceremony.
Each State Women Icon and State Young Women Icon will return to their respective states to carry out a Social Responsibility Project (CSR) that directly benefits the community, based on KWIM’s five key focus areas:
- Economy
- Education
- Culture and Values
- Health
- Safety
Recipients will also participate in IKON Talks, sharing their stories of perseverance, challenges, leadership and experiences with the community to inspire more women and younger generations.
KWIM will conduct IKON Tours to the participating states to witness the CSR projects, engage with communities and observe their impact. The initiative reflects AWIM’s commitment to ensuring recipients continue contributing actively to society beyond their recognition.
Dato’ Normaziah Sheikh Mohamed said AWIM was established not merely to recognise successful women, but to build a community of women leaders capable of creating positive change.
“This award is not merely a trophy or recognition. It is a responsibility. We want every Women Icon to be a leader who continues to contribute to society, guide other women, drive impactful programmes and become a role model for future generations. For two years, they will be together with KWIM and KPWKM in championing the women empowerment agenda in Malaysia.”
She also expressed appreciation to all sponsors, especially Hanan Medicare Sdn. Bhd., for their continued support in establishing AWIM as a national platform recognising Malaysian women’s contributions. Lindo Welness Sdn. Bhd. and DS Rich Marketing Sdn. Bhd. are also main sponsors, alongside Nippon Sushi Sdn Bhd, Jasmine Food Corporation Sdn Bhd, The Tea Republic, Haeja Budiman, Zety Roses Garden & Farm, The Gourmands Caterer, Insan Cetak, FYI Multiverse Sdn Bhd, Izza Yusof and Admire Catering.
The Malaysia Women Icon Awards Gala Night 2026/2027 on 26 September 2026 will mark the culmination of the journey, bringing together national leaders, ministry representatives, government agencies, the corporate sector, NGOs, media and award recipients to celebrate women who excel in their respective fields and are ready to lead change and create lasting impact.
