The former Youth & Sports Minister, YB Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman recently revealed his very own innovative COOX culinary ecosystem, designed for the support of the F&B industry operators will be available for the market in 2 weeks time. This was officially announced to the press & media for the first time with the presence of his 4 equal partners, Ken Lee, Siong Ong, Vinesh Sinha and Stewart Leong at their flagship COOX outlet at Glo Damansara Mall in PJ. During the session, Syed Saddiq was confident that ‘Now Everyone Can Own & Fly a Restaurant’, reiterating that forward looking business models which encompassed a culinary ecosystem + software platform + business efficiency consulting + vast industry network + competitive pricing for agility are crucial to keeping the engine of Malaysia’s economic recovery running smoothly.
COOX, operated by Ghost Kitchens Sdn Bhd will soon boast 26 exclusive cooking suites (from 88-132 sq ft) at its flagship location, offering delivery, takeaways and even dine-in options. Basically, COOX will be offering ‘effort-free’ F&B solutions by providing centralized co-cooking spaces where F&B brands are able to efficiently set-up their operations to instantly grow their reach. Most attractive is that the costs are significantly reduced compared to the very high expansion costs typical for a conventional F&B business.
Furthermore, COOX will provide a state-of-the-art innovative IT solutions to complement your operations without additional investment and fees:
- Centralized Order Management – F&B operators are well-positioned to capture opportunities from various food delivery services, without the need for multiple devices to monitor each service individually. (Initially COOX is expected to cooperate with Grab Food, Food Panda and Air Asia Delivery)
- Automated Performance Tracking – Together with an at-a-glance dashboard that lets brands track sales, cost and business performance in real time, its software platform integrates machine learning and CCTV surveillance to monitor staff attendance automatically.
- Cost-Effective Purchasing – To further optimize costs and operational efficiency, brands can pool orders of ingredients and consumables among all the brands on the COOX platform, sourcing from suppliers with critical mass at the best possible prices to reduce the cost of goods and enhance profitability.
The food delivery sector is currently worth RM 1.08 billion (2021) and is expected to leap up to RM 1.66 billion by 2024. Looking at the ongoing pandemic and economic uncertainties that have badly affected revenues and loss of businesses, especially in the F&B industry, Syed Saddiq and team was quick to identify a timely opportunity to help the F&B businesses to successfully pivot their operations to capitalize on the huge potential offered by the on-demand delivery model to serve F&B brands of all sizes to enhance their operations in order to promote profitability and competitiveness.
Although there is a growing development of ‘cloud kitchen’ or ‘ghost kitchen’ across Malaysia, COOX promises to be more attractive:
- To place a strong emphasis on ensuring their locations to offer large population catchment, proven consumer demand and options for easy accessibility with the widest possible reach.
- To rollout attractive initiatives that will maximize exposure for the brands for optimum results.
- To help create a more cohesive and visible presence across the various popular food delivery services.
- To collectively reduce delivery commissions and preferential delivery rates.
- To promote lower start-up estimated costs: CAPEX of RM 10,000 – RM 20,000 only; Rental of RM 2,950 – RM 5,250; Labor of RM 2,000 – RM 4,000 and no additional cost for aircon, dining, Internet, etc.
“We are ready to partner with F&B operators facing business challenges and can customize revenue sharing models suited to their business circumstances,” Syed Saddiq concluded.
COOX is currently calling for interested F&B operators to register their interest. Check out for additional details here: bit.ly/2Zy467J
