The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) expressed its appreciation and gratitude to the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) on the launch of the Stimulus Package for the Creative Industry (PRISMA). PRISMA is a short-term initiative that aims to ensure the survival and sustainability of Malaysia’s creative industry players during the COVID-19 pandemic.
PRISMA is implemented through three main strategies, namely, to finance the production of creative content, enabling the capacity and skills of creative industry players, and providing market access for local products. Through the allocation of RM89.2 million, PRISMA is expected to benefit more than 9,000 industry players while creating over 40,000 job opportunities through 32 programs across four categories – film, music, digital content & visual arts, and performances and crafts.
Among the initiatives and programs under the film category are Micro Funds, Digital Content Fund (DKD), Borneo Pitch @ PRISMA DKD, Phase 2 of the Immediate Initiatives Plan for the Creative Industry Economy (PELAKSANA), the Creativity Never Stops program and the Creative Business Revival Loan.
FINAS welcomes all efforts that benefit activists in the creative industry while trying to drive the local creative industry to the forefront internationally. FINAS has high hopes that all creative industry players will uphold the spirit of togetherness and set aside differences of opinion while facing current economic challenges and pressures as a result of the COVID-19 outbreaks.
