The Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) launched a charity program called ‘Sumbangan Rahmah Muzik Industri’ in an effort to help local music industry practitioners. Rosmin Hashim, Chairman of RIM announced said his side received annual funding support of RM100,000 from Public Performance Malaysia Berhad (PPM), which is the oldest Collective Management Organization in Malaysia.
At the launch, Rosmin Hasim said, “Under this program, music industry practitioners ranging from singers, musicians, and songwriters to public relations officers of recording companies who are facing difficulties due to various factors can apply for financial assistance from the newly established Rahmah contribution.”
The ceremony, which was officiated by the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, YB Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, is in line with the Payung Rahmah initiative to help ease the cost of living for the people. He also said the Rahmah Industri Muzik Donation is an expansion of the Emergency Fund previously established to provide immediate financial assistance to music industry activists who are facing financial problems due to the COVID-19 epidemic that hit the country before.
The application for financial assistance is now available and any program details including qualifications, criteria, and forms can be found on the website www.rim.org.my/sumbangan-rahmah-application.
