The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (MDTCA) recently collaborated with Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) to launch the fifth edition of its Buy Malaysia Campaign 2022 to instil the spirit of patriotism and a sense of pride amongst Malaysians toward all homegrown made products.
Yang Berhormat Dato’ Rosol bin Wahid, Deputy Minister of Malaysia Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs officiated the campaign accompanied by Hairol Ariffein Sahari Chief Executive Officer of Halal Development Corporation and Kenneth Chuah, President of Lotus’s Malaysia.
“Apart from being a platform for local producers to gain wider market access to advance their businesses, we also supply local small- operated businesses or your neighbourhood Kedai Runcits with bulk items at very competitive pricing. To date, we now have over 900 Kedai Runcits subscribing to this convenience and our efforts to enlarge this reach will continue”, said Kenneth Chuah, President of Lotus’s Malaysia.
Lotus’s commits to carrying out its responsibilities in supporting transforming, enhancing, and encouraging the capacity and capabilities of local Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) through its vigorous B2B programmes. By working closely with MDTCA and other government agencies like the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) and HDC, Lotus’s SME Support Team is prepared to receive potential suppliers.
As an appreciation and recognition to these homegrown Malaysian brands and products, Lotus’s together with the Ministry and HDC awarded ten companies with the Best Lotus’s SME Suppliers award, three SMEs with the Best New Lotus’s SME award, and five companies for the Top Performing HALAL SME during the Make Halal Your First Choice Campaign in collaboration with HDC.
