Ouyang Yujing, China Ambassador to Malaysia; YB Dato Boon Hon Liong, Life Honorary President of MCCC; and Ngan Teng Ye, Organizing Chairman, recently celebrated the Tiger Lunar New Year with the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC). During the celebration, Datuk Tan Yew Sing, President of MCCC, shared some insight on how SMEs could elevate their businesses.
Datuk Tan Yew Sing stated that “All industries are re-evaluating their operating environments and business models to adapt to the rapidly changing period, especially in traditional industries, which need to make better use of technologies such as social media and mobile applications to enhance their product competitiveness and service quality.”
Datuk Tan foresees many SMEs emphasizing green economics while implementing sustainable development designs into their strategies, as we see in the current upgrading trend. Tan encourages businesses to digitalize their services to attract more business opportunities as they venture into a new platform.
Together with the government’s initiative of an additional RM1 Billion into the budget for SMEs, Datuk Tan hopes that the 2022 budget will be allocated well to help the SMEs to maintain the sustainability of their businesses. In addition to that, the government also partnered with the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) and Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTP), coupled with the Belt and Road Initiative, to promote the usage of low-carbon initiatives.
Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, congratulated China for hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics and predicted that it will be yet another successful event. He also hopes to strengthen the bonds with China by implementing any ongoing plans for the well-being and prosperity of the people from both countries.
“Despite the restriction of the pandemic, our partnership flourishes. China continues to become one of Malaysia’s major trading partners, as well as one of the largest foreign investors. From January to November 2021, the total trade with China amounted to RM378.95 billion (USD 91.55 billion), increasing by 27.2% as compared with the corresponding period last year (RM329.77 billion),” Saifuddin added in his pre-recorded speech during the MCCC Lunar New Year of Celebration.
