The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporate (MATRADE) snatched the award for “Best Use of Information Technology” at the 13th World Trade Promotion Organisation’s Conference and Awards in Accra, Ghana on 17 May 2022.

MATRADE was recognized for its initiatives in organizing the first full edition of the 17th Malaysia International Halal Showcase in 2021. As a result of that, SME exports in the halal industry continued growing despite disruptions caused by the pandemic and even opened new markets for business connections in a more convenient and cost-effective direction.

Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE, Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz.

“The recognition by ITC is a resounding testament of MATRADE’s capabilities as a world-class national trade promotion agency. The award is a realization of our aspiration to showcase Malaysia and bring Malaysian exports to greater heights,”  said Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE.

The theme for the WTPO Awards 2022  was  ‘Bold Solutions for Resilience and Recovery’, held biennially and guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

MATRADE Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Center), Abu Bakar Yusof.

The award reflected MATRADE’s championing of export agendas in Malaysia placing them as the country’s trendsetter in driving the momentum for Malaysian exports, especially for smaller and medium enterprises (SMEs) in their trade promotion activities.
