Lao Shan Dong Beef Noodles

With its grand opening of the 1st and 2nd outlets of the muslim-friendly Lao Shan Dong Beef Noodles, the humble Chef, Master Chef Yu looks back and recalls the history of the shop’s beef noodles.

Sent to Keelung, Taiwan at 16, Mr. Yu Xin Zhi, the first generation owner from Lao Shan Dong Noodle Shop faced adversity but persevered. After a fire destroyed their home, the family, armed with six bags of donated flour, ventured into selling noodles, eventually pioneering Taiwan’s first beef noodle eatery in Ximending.

Initially met with skepticism in an agricultural society, beef noodles gained widespread acceptance, leading to government-backed festivals. The second generation, led by Mr. Yu Chi Jui, further developed the business, now known as “Fu Xiang Hao.” Lao Shan Dong Beef Noodles, made from Taiwanese beef bones and a unique blend of Chinese herbs, became a culinary sensation.

Under the guidance of Master Chef Yu Chi Jui, the second-generation successor, Lao Shan Dong Beef Noodles continues to thrive.  Lao Shan Dong Beef Noodles are now available to the public at CityWalk I-City, Shah Alam, and Setiawalk, Puchong Selangor.
