Burger King, in collaboration with the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO), marked International Women’s Day by distributing 200 burger sets to social workers as part of their Burger Queen campaign. This initiative aimed to honor and support women and social workers for their valuable contributions to society. The meal sets included the popular Chick’n Crisp™ burger, drinks, and fries.

In addition to this gesture, Burger King extended a special one-day promotion on March 8th, offering women who purchased any set meal in-store a complimentary salted caramel or vanilla soft serve with a purchase valued over RM10.00.

Recognizing the importance of social work, especially in supporting survivors of violence, Burger King made a cash donation to WAO through their WePledge: Step Up program. This donation underscored their commitment to empowering women and advocating for their rights in Malaysia.

Cosmo Restaurants Sdn. Bhd’s Head of Marketing  Leong Huey Ying,  said “The Burger Queen campaign reflects our belief in the importance of supporting and uplifting the unsung heroes of community support systems. In distributing these meal sets, we’re looking to send a message of solidarity to their recipients, one that says ‘We see you, and we salute your efforts.”

WAO, as the largest service provider for domestic violence survivors in Malaysia, appreciated Burger King’s support and donation. Anis Farid, Research Project Manager at WAO, emphasized the crucial role of social workers in supporting survivors and promoting gender equality.

Furthermore, Burger King collaborated with WAO to conduct internal workshops aimed at fostering a more gender-equitable workplace and raising awareness among employees about issues affecting women.

Together, Burger King and WAO aimed to create a more equitable society where individuals support each other regardless of gender, embodying the spirit of compassion and solidarity of International Women’s Day.
