15 December 2021, The World Brands Foundation (TWBF) held its Gala Dinner at the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur to award the best market leaders with the prestigious accolade, The BrandLaureate Award. During the Gala Dinner, TWBF launched The Laureate League’s NFT marketplace as they venture into the Metaverse and MOU signing with Global Chamber Business Leaders on the co-organization of the Global Leaders Forum.

During the Gala Dinner, a few categories of awards were presented to over 50 companies and individuals that excelled in their own categories including:
- The BrandLaureate Brand ICON Brand Leadership Awards 2021
- The BrandLaureate World e- Branding Awards 2020 & 2021
- The BrandLaureate Prominent Business BestBrands e-Branding Award 2021
The Gala Dinner was Attended by 400 guests, which included VVIPS, representatives of top brands, government bodies and corporate leaders.

Dr. KKJohan, World President of The BrandLaureate stated that he is happy to organize a proper physical Gala Dinner after 20 months of the pandemic. He said that although this year’s Gala Dinner did not feel the same as the very first Gala Dinner in Shangri-LaHotel in 2006, it is good to be back on the main stage.
In his speech, Dr. KKJohan talked about the challenges faced by many during the pandemic and expressed his gratitude for everyone who supported The BrandLaureate despite the tough times. “For many of us, it has been a period of doom and gloom the past 20 months. But i told myself that we cannot despair, more so we are the industry leader. So standing here, sharing you with all these experiences and thoughts seems like storytelling, but in reality, it was really torturous and hell at some point of time. And I know many of you went through the same experience.”
Dr. Johan also praised the leadership led by the Director-General of Health and the front liners who were under major pressure during the pandemic and assisted many citizens throughout the pandemic. He stated, “That is what leadership is all about. It is not only about being No.1 position but also about taking charge and being responsible in good or bad times. Ladies and Gentlemen, we must applaud and recognize our team of front liners who have worked tirelessly and whose sacrifice during these times have helped to keep us safe and helped the country control the spread of Covid-19.”
To conclude his speech, Dr. Johan mentioned that the BrandLaureate will venture into a new fully integrated e-commerce business where he believes that technology will be the new era for business branding as NFT has risen to be the current trend for the new businesses.
