BookXcess has recently opened their 13th bookstore located in MyTOWN Shopping Centre, Cheras. To add a unique twist and enhance the consumer’s experience, they have renovated and decorated the bookstore in order to emphasize its artistry and creativity. Since it was designed to elicit surprises at every turn, BookXcess MyTOWN will lead you on a journey that will evoke a myriad of emotions as they built an astonishing architectural space that are distinct from your typical perception of a retail bookstore.
BookXcess created a naturally lit expanse of space that is creatively divided to lead one on a journey like never before. The books are displayed on towering shelves that were built on stoned pathways alongside with an ingeniously designed two-level Piazza that would attract customers to take a break and chill whilst enjoying the magnificent view of the city skyline. It’s a unique space and milieu that also doubles up as a co-working space, all in one!
The 31,200 square feet bookstore offers more attractions than just browsing and purchasing books. BookXcess in MyTown is the only bookstore that has a Japanese restaurant, Ume Tei Japanese Restaurant, and a café, Whisk Coffee Bar & Cakes. If those aren’t enough reasons for you to visit them, they’ve also got an in-house co-working space and an art gallery specially built to promote Malaysian artworks in support of local artists.

Founder Andrew Yap hopes to reinvent the concept of bookstores and to entice a new generation of readers. “I believe over 95% of the population, everybody can read, hence this is us trying to make people fall in love with reading again,” he said.
BookXcess is located on the first level in MyTOWN Shopping Centre, Cheras. They’re open from 10AM to 10PM daily.
