4 HOMEGROWN TALENTED ENGINEERS TO ENHANCE RACE CARS DURING THE FIA WEC

On 13 December 2021, the Technology Transfer Apprenticeship Program (TTAP) appreciation awards and handover ceremony was held at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). TTAP is an initiative by Malaysia Automotive Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii) and Persona Energy Sdn Bhd, to enhance the development of the  local automotive talent, expertise and technology. Through this apprenticeship, talented local engineers will be selected to procure an important engineering insight within the endurance racing technology at the FIA World  Endurance Championship (WEC).

This appreciation awards was officiated by Senior Minister of Minister of International Trade and  Industry, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, together with the opening speeches by MARii CEO, Dato’  Madani Sahari, Director of Persona Energy, and TTAP mentor, Jazeman Jaafar together with JOTA Technical Director, Tomoki Takahashi. 

Muhammad Amzar Danish Chairil, Anderson Kent Robert, Luqman Othman and Muhammad Taufiq Mohd Zin were the few engineers that was selected to be part of the JOTA team at the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship. In this apprenticeship, they are given a chance to gain automotive skills and knowledge from experienced race engineers in international racing events with professional motorsport teams.

Throughout the program, every apprentice was considered as team members, and were  given real-time engineering responsibilities on certain segments of vehicle development for  each race.

Apprentices were given tasks which are focused on a certain segment of vehicle development for  each race. This includes collection and analysis of the performance from race car  components, design and layout of workshop equipment during races, maintenance of race cars, along with other engineering activities that are required during the development leading up to the race day.
